What the FDA records say

The FDA approved Mounjaro, which contains tirzepatide, to improve blood glucose control in adults with type 2 diabetes when used with diet and exercise. The FDA label for Zepbound also identifies tirzepatide, but its approved uses include chronic weight management for certain patients. Zepbound later received an additional U.S. indication for moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea in adults with obesity.

Sharing an active ingredient does not make two branded products interchangeable for an individual. Product labeling, presentation, prescribed purpose, and availability can differ, and approvals outside the United States may not match U.S. approvals.

Why the exact product name belongs in a tracker
